Fucus Serratus is more commonly known as Serrated wrack, Saw wrack or Toothed wrack. This is the "Serrated wrack" of the lower shore in the north-eastern Atlantic. It is easily recognised by its saw-toothed frond, and a lack of swollen receptacles.
USES:
Nutritional Supplements - a natural source of vitamins, minerals, and fibre, rich in various compounds such as fucoidan, alginates, and polyphenols, which have been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties.
Cosmetics - Fucus serratus is used for the production of seaweed extracts for cosmetics, and for seaweed baths.
